🌸 Role Introduction 🌸
We are building a shiny, new, ambitious cozy game and would love to find an audio designer with a proven track record in creating thrilling, soothing and immersive game audio experiences.
If you are passionate about creating a magical and immersive soundscape like our first title, Wylde Flowers, then we would love to work with you!
Please note that this is not a music composition role — we already have a composer on board!
🌸 What you'll be doing 🌸
Planning, concept and scheduling of all sound effects in the game, including ambient soundscapes, player interactions, cutscenes, UI feedback, and magical effects.
Recording/sourcing of all required foley and editing into a consistent and appealing sound library.
Implementing all sound events in FMOD, placing sources in our Unity scenes, and working with our animation and cutscene teams to bring cinematics to life.
Coordinating with our music composer and code team to implement the interactive score.
Advising and assisting with normalisation and EQ of voice over from our partner external recording studios.
Designing and refining the overall mix and balance of all audio in the game, profiling and optimising CPU usage on our range of target platforms.
🌸 Our dream Sound Designer 🌸
Loves every aspect of audio design, and has a passion for great design found in games and other media.
Has a deep understanding of "cozy" games, builders or life simulation games.
Believes in collaboration and loves working with a team to create the best possible visual effects by adapting to new ideas and feedback.
Is able to work independently with people in significantly different time zones. Knowing when to reach out for help or advice but loves problem solving as well.
Believes in kindness and support as a first step to any communication and practices both when giving feedback.
🌸 This is a full time, fixed-contract and permanently-remote-working position 🌸
This position is 38 hours a week
Work around your family and personal commitments.
Work any hours of the day and week that make sense for you.
We generally communicate over Slack or email, with occasional voice/video chat when convenient.
You will need to have some reasonable time zone overlap with both Melbourne and the US at the same time. We have a strict policy to not hire in Europe or any time zone where only night work would be possible to achieve that.
We'll be trusting you to be self-motivated and able to manage your own time and workload; we won't be micromanaging your task list.
🌸 Salary 🌸
This is a fixed-term 12-month position
$120,000 AUD ($85,000 USD) per annum
