⚡ Applications close 27th January at 9am AEDT

🌸 Role Introduction 🌸

We are working on Wylde Society, a shiny, new, ambitious game in the Wylde Flowers universe and we would love to find an experienced senior 3D creature artist with proven skills and experience in creating highly-polished, stylized creature models.

If building games like our first title, Wylde Flowers excites you and you can bring your experience and love of creature modelling and mentoring, then this is the role for you!

🌸 What you'll be doing 🌸

  • Turning concept art into beautiful, stylized 3D creatures and animals that are equally gorgeous on next-gen consoles and low-end devices like Nintendo Switch or mobile.

  • Working closely with art leadership, the animation team and the engineering team to ensure creatures are utilizing technology well in-engine and easily able to be rigged for clean, expressive animations.

  • Able to optimize your creatures using a deep understanding of ZBrush, Maya and Substance Painter.

  • Able to think outside the real and create fantasy creatures that are unique, have loads of personality and believable anatomy.

🌸 Our dream Creature Artist 🌸

  • Able to use modern techniques and an understanding of low-end performance constraints to think up clever solutions to create appealing creature details.

  • Passionate about stylized & cozy game art like Palia and Genshin Impact but excited by the challenges of pushing what is possible in those styles.

  • Is a ‘cozy’ creature artist, who loves creating lovable, adorable creatures more than terrifying monsters.

  • An experienced game artist: with a deep understanding of using ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter and shaders to make great runtime art.

  • Cares deeply about mentoring and training other artists to support and uplift them while helping them create beautiful art.

  • Independent: they're comfortable working through problems on their own but will reach out for help when they need it.

🌸 This is a full time, fixed-contract and permanently-remote-working position 🌸

  • This position is 38 hours a week

    • Work around your family and personal commitments.

    • Work any hours of the day and week that make sense for you.

    • We generally communicate over Slack or email, with occasional voice/video chat when convenient.

  • You will need to have some reasonable time zone overlap with both Melbourne and the US at the same time. We have a strict policy to not hire in Europe or any time zone where only night work would be possible to achieve that.

  • We'll be trusting you to be self-motivated and able to manage your own time and workload; we won't be micromanaging your task list.

🌸 Salary 🌸

  • This is an 18 month contract position with 3 months probation.

  • $120,000 AUD ($85,000 USD) annual base salary plus benefits.
